Clearly well researched, it is a good read that has many timely examples of challenges faced in todays business environment. Its clear structure and layout do indeed make it a valuable tool in the toolkit as once you have read through it, it is easy to refer back to the chapters in the book that speak to the particular stage that you are at in any change management situation.

The book is written in a logical way, with each chapter connected to the change management process using a clear diagram. This layout encourages students to engage in reading the book, because they can easily see the relevance of each chapter to the course topic...Given the importance of managing change at multiple levels, the authors have provided a wonderful reference and text for students to use and engage in. About the Author

Tupper Cawsey is Professor Emeritus of Business, Wilfrid Laurier University. He is presently Editor, Case Research Journal, for the North American Case Research Association. He has served on several boards of directors and was Chair, Lutherwood Board from 2003 - 2008. Tupper was recognized nationally in 2001 as one of Canada’s top five business professors by receiving the Leaders in Management Education award, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Post. He is also the 1994 recipient of the David Bradford Educator Award, presented by the Organizational Behaviour Teaching Society, and the 1990 Wilfrid Laurier University "Outstanding Teacher Award".

Tupper created the Case Track for the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, a peer review process for cases. He is author or coauthor of over 6 books and monographs including, Toolkit for Organizational Change – 1st Edition, Canadian Cases in Human Resource Management, Cases in Organizational Behaviour and several monographs including Control Systems in Excellent Canadian Companies and the Career Management Guide. Tupper has over 50 refereed journal and conference publications. In 2005, he received the Christiansen Award from the Kaufman Foundation and the North American Case Research Association and in 2007.his case, “Board Games at Lutherwood” won the Directors College Corporate Governance Award and the Bronze Case Award at the NACRA Conference. In 2009, his case, “NuComm International” won the Gold Case Award at the NACRA Conference.

Gene Deszca is Professor of Business Administration, a former MBA Director, and is currently the Associate MBA Director in the School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. He has held a number of leadership roles at Laurier, including ones involving the development and launch of the full-time, one year MBA program, the executive MBA program, and the international concentration. He was instrumental in the development of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada's post-university professional accreditation programs and is a member of their national Board of Directors.

Gene is the author or coauthor over 100 journal, conference publications/presentations, books, monographs, and technical papers. These include the books Canadian Cases in Human Resource Management, and Cases in Organizational Behaviour and the articles Driving Loyalty Through Time-to-Value, and Managing the New Product Development Process: Best-in-Class Principles and Leading Practices. His current research and consulting activity focuses on organizational change and the development of high performance enterprises.

Cynthia Ingols is an Associate Professor, School of Management (SOM), Simmons College, Boston. At the SOM, she directs the internship program for undergraduate and MBA students, and teaches courses in Organizational Change and Career Strategies to MBA students. Ingols leads Strategic Leadership for Women, an executive education program with a global reach that strengths the leadership skills and self-confidence of its participants. Early in her career, she received her doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Organization Behavior and taught Management Communication at the Harvard Business School.

Cynthia focuses her consulting work in three areas: conducting diagnostic work to promote change in organizations; developing interactive executive education programs, particularly using cases and simulations; and, coaching executives to enhance their leadership capacity and careers. Ingols’ research and publications follow similar lines. Her research on executive education programs has been published in leading journals, such as Harvard Business Review, Organizational Dynamics, and Training. Her research work on creating innovative organizational structures and change was published in the Design Management Journal. She has published numerous articles about careers in journals such as the Journal of Career Development and Human Resource Development Quarterly. She co-authored two books on career management: Take Charge of Your Career (2005), and A Smart, Easy Guide to Interviewing (2003).

Great book - easy and understandable examples

This book was exactly what I needed. I have plenty of programming experience but TCL is new to me. This chapters in this book walked through a series of examples that gave me all the information I needed to get the job done. Downloading the code examples from the web site helped to make it even easier.

I don't consider this book as a reference guide but instead a great primer on the TCL language. That's exactly what I was looking for and that's what I got.

Very Disappointed

This book is poorly organized. In the discussion of Tcl, important terms are not defined or explained. Different data types and structures like strings, lists and arrays are given entire chapters, but it is not explained why they are different and when they should be used. The truly difficult topics like substitutions and grouping are not clearly explained. This would be horrible for an absolute beginner.
The reviewer who liked the discussion of Tk may have a point. The section on Tk seems to make more sense and may be of some use.

As the narrator comes to understand, everything depends upon a boundary, unseen but certain, separating the two sides. Besides the narrator there are two other main characters, the dark and laconic captain of the base and a woman whose compex relations to both sides of the war brings the narator deeper into the story's web.

For many French readers The Opposing Shore (published as Le rivage des Syrtes ), with its theme of transgressions and boundaries, spoke to the issue of defeat and the desire to fail: a paticularly sensitive motif in postwar French literature. But there is nothing about the novel tying it either to France or to the 1950s; in fact, Gracq's novel, with its elaborate, richly detailed prose, will be of greater interest now than at any point in the last twenty years.

Gracq's most famous novel, published in France in 1951, posits a somnolent war of three centuries' duration between the two Mediterranean states. At long last a restless Orsennian opens "one of those doors you pass through in dreams" to provoke his hereditary enemies to action. By novel's end the barbarians are at the gate. Gracq's is a 20th-century vision of decay expressed in the lapidary style of an earlier age, a masterpiece of atmosphere and indirection. Highly recommended for collections of modern literature. The Masterpiece

Until I read this book, Buzzati's "Il deserto dei tartari" was my favorite novel, perhaps my only novel, the only one I cared to keep re-reading through life. This is, remarkably a very similar story about the antichamber of anticipation (rather than "the antichamber of hope" as I called Buzzati's book), but written in a much finer language, by a real writer (Buzzati was a journalist, which made his prose more functional) ; the style is lapidary with remarkable precision; it has texture, wealth of details, and creates a mesmerizing atmosphere. Once you enter it, you are stuck there. I kept telling myself while reading it: "this is the book". It suddenly replaced the "deserto".
A few caveats/comments. First, I read it in the original French Le Rivage des Syrtes (French Edition), not in this English translation, but I doubt that the translator can mess up such a fine style and the imagery. Second, the blurb says Gracq received the Goncourt prize for it. Julien Gracq REFUSED the Goncourt, he despised the Parisian literary circles and by 1951 decided to stay in the margin. He stuck to his publisher José Corti rather than switch to the fancy Gallimard after his success (as Proust did) (or other publishing houses for the fakes and the selfpromoters). Third, this book came out a few years after Buzzati's "deserto", but before Buzzati was translated into French. I wonder if Gracq had heard of the "deserto"; the coincidence is too strong to be ignored.

I read the original in French "Le Rivage des Syrtes", poetic, refined, passionate, with chiselled descriptions of landscapes -Gracq is originally a geographer. The whole novel is permeated with an atmosphere of new age poetic doom. It is related to Dino Buzzati's Desert, and was written in approximately the same time (pre war Europe when barbarians were at the gate) but has more depth, more warmth and wealth of details and emotions. Le Rivage des Syrtes is also a jigsaw of geographical and historical references drawn from Persia, Egypt and Venice - reflecting the neverending conflict between civilisation and barbary. But who is who ? This book deserves more international exposure. Read it, it is mesmerizing. The French editor - Jose Corti - sells it with pages which you have to cut open, adding charme to the journey into Gracq's mythic world.

Majestic in scope and form

Even in translation you can feel the lyrical intensity and beauty of this novel which creates an atmosphere of tension which no reader will forget easily: Aldo, a young nobleman, has had enough of the decadence of his native Vezzano, a fictitious republic modeled on Venice. He has himself posted to a navy base which was once built to defend Vezzano against Farghestan. The two powers are still officially at war, but nothing has actually happened for 300 years. Now, however, there is a growing tension, not just inside Aldo, who dreams of the unknown Farghestan. People in Vezzano seem to be tired of its eternal stability, they long for action...
Most of the novel's plot takes place near the old navy base, which is surrounded by a desert landscape which is described with mesmerizing intensity. Little incidents are building up towards an explosion which is only hinted at in the book. People waiting for something to happen in a more and more uncanny slience - that may remind the reader of the fact that the book was written before and during World War II. The decadence longing for action, danger and change, however, seems to me reminiscent of World War I. This is not a book of easy historical analogy. It is a unique work of art which stands completely on its own.

About the Author
Dr Yoon received his Ph.D. degree from Kansas State University. He has taught courses on Quantitative Analysis, Operations Management, Quality Management, and Statistics. His research areas include Strategic Decision Analysis, Quality Management (Six Sigma), and Fuzzy Set Applications on Operations Management. Recently, he is working on user friendly translation of statistical principles. Dr Yoon has published 30+ scholarly journal publications and three books, including the prestigious Sage Quantitative Applications in Social Sciences Series #104: Multiple Attribute Decision Making. Dr Yoon spent one year as Visiting Research Associate Professor at Kansas State University. He has been a consultant to HTX International, HESI ,PSE&G and many more. He is a column writer for a daily Korean newspaper in NYC.

They present several methods which encompass the major classes of MADM models. About the Author

Terry Ann Felke-Morris is a Professor Emerita of Computer Information Systems at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. She holds a Doctor of Education degree, a Master of Science degree in information systems, and numerous certifications, including Adobe Certified Dreamweaver 8 Developer, WOW Certified Associate Webmaster, Microsoft Certified Professional, Master CIW Designer, and CIW Certified Instructor.

 

Dr. Felke-Morris has been honored with Harper College’s Glenn A. Reich Memorial Award for Instructional Technology in recognition of her work in designing the college’s Web Development program and courses. In 2006, she received the Blackboard Greenhouse Exemplary Online Course Award for use of Internet technology in the academic environment. Dr. Felke-Morris received two international awards in 2008: the Instructional Technology Council’s Outstanding e-Learning Faculty Award for Excellence and the MERLOT Award for Exemplary Online Learning Resources—MERLOT Business Classics.

 

With more than 25 years of information technology experience in business and industry, Dr. Felke-Morris published her first website in 1996 and has been working with the Web ever since. A long-time promoter of Web standards, she was a member of the Web Standards Project Education Task Force. Dr. Felke-Morris was instrumental in developing the Web Development certificate and degree programs at William Rainey Harper College. A little bit of everything in one handy book

I love the multiple functions of this book. It is a scrapbook with pages you can customize and add photos of either the food, or the loved one that made the dish along with the recipe. It also has recipe cards and extra sheets of paper that can be used to make your own pages and clear inserts to put them in. It has these handy folders in the back for those recipes you might find in a magazine and cut out and need to store somewhere. You can order extra pages of everything which is great.

Great item ! It looks like the picture. It came on time.This item was a gift for a friend. This item come with so much it has pockets inside with stickers ect.. I love it so much im going to buy myself one !

Bought for a gift

I bought this as a gift for a friend who was getting married. I hand wrote several of my recipes and organized them in the book. There is a good selection of scrapbook type pages and stickers. I only wish that there was a way to order just the recipe cards that came with it. I ran out of cards before I ran out of recipes to put in the book. The full size scrapbook recipe pages are nice because they have a space to put a photo of the completed dish. Plus, there is a lot of space for writing out instructions or hints and tips for preparing the dish.
