Touching, Heartwrenching, Joyous, Incredible

This has been a difficult review to write. How can one express their reading of St. Therese of Lisieux as enjoyable, when this young Saint experienced such incredible pain? Lived her short life in extreme agony, yet welcomed each moment of pain as a gift from God? Here was a young woman, who was determined to become a saint! Yes, I very much enjoyed reading this text. I would highly recommend others to purchase this translation by John Clarke O.C.D., as he brings much of what has been written before about St. Therese into chronological clarity. In fact, I would have enjoyed having this particular text before having read others on St. Therese. There is a great wealth of information included within this text that is not seen in others.
Not only has John Clarke offered chronological clarity, photographs, and a biographical guide offering proper names/description of those mentioned within the text; John Clarke, O.C.D. offers a Biblical Index along with the 'normal' index found in most text. The Biblical Index brings the reader even closer to St. Therese. Here one may bring themselves to a greater understanding of that immense Love St. Therese of Lisieux had for our Lord. For those who wish to study the life of St. Therese further, I would highly recommend this awe-inspiring text.
This text is offered by ICS Publications (Institute of Carmelite Studies), Washington, D.C. There are several other texts available from the ICS Publications on St. Therese of Lisieux. Best Book on St Therese!
By the way of divine love
I was in a traditional Carmelite monastery in PA for four and a half years and this was one of the must-reads there. The sub-prioress who is named after this most beautiful saint, said that it was her favorite book on Saint Therese by far. It's the kind you can pickup on any page and is especially good for meditation. I definitely recommend anyone looking at this to buy it!

Este libro de dietas es muy bueno, hay que seguirlo al pie de la letra para ver resultados, pero, no esperen un gran cambio, solo se pierden unos kilos los primeros dias, luego recuperas unos pocos y luego empiezas a bajar pero lento, yo no tuve tanta paciencia. Pero merece que lo prueben.

Wow, this book really works!!

I first heard of this book a few years ago. My sister had read it about 4 years ago and really recommended it to me. I kept putting it off because I've never followed a plan to eat healthier and I was a bit skeptical at first. But I really have to admit that I'm really glad I tried this book and it clears up common misconceptioins and diet myths. In this book comes a 9 week plan each divided into days that are organized for better eating. Just in one week you start to get results and by the end you can see more depending on your weight, the more you have the more you loose. The good thing about it is that it doesn't take away meals, on the contrary, it has you constantly eating. As many have said, the first 2 days are probably the hardest then after that everything becomes easy.

I do want to point out that this book is in spanish and some -not all- of the meals are mexican oriented but you can come up with your styles as long as you have the main ingredients.

About the Author
Carol M. Bast is Associate Professor in the Department of Legal Studies at the University of Central Florida. She has won several professional awards, frequently presents at legal and academic conferences, and is an active member of the American Society of Writers on Legal Subjects and the Legal Writing Institute. Her many published works include articles on legal research, legal writing, eavesdropping, and wiretapping, as well as Foundations of Law and Florida Courts, a textbook. Carol Bast earned an M.B.A. from University of Central Florida, a Ph.D. in Spanish from University of Florida, and a J.D. from the New York Law School.

Margie Hawkins is a librarian with national law firm Holland & Knight LLP, and has expertise in computer-assisted legal research and the Internet. A member of the American Association of Law Libraries (A.A.L.L.) and the Orange County Bar Association, she also served on the Advisory Committee for the Valencia Community College Paralegal Studies Program for more than fourteen years. Ms. Hawkins received her Masters of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Florida, and is a member of Beta Phi Mu, the international library and information science honor society. She holds undergraduate degrees in History and Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida.

Research? Writing?

This book has absolutely terrible examples of REAL legal writing prose. I don't think it is well put together and there's a lot of rubbish between the important lines. This book could easily be 50 pages max. I work in a law office and I didn't see any papers looking like these. There's nothing on the court RULES for writing and how it must be filed. I just didn't like the book. There's better out there.

Easy read, informative.

This textbook was required for a Legal Research class. The chapters were broken down in a very logical order, the information was presented in a manner which made it very easy to understand. A high school (or even Junior High) student could read this text and get the gist of everything in it.

Great to get a glimpse of the life of another character in the Hidden trilogy!

I wasn't fond of the Vancia character while reading the Hidden trilogy. Just because she's so cold to Ryann. I understand why & yes, it's somewhat justifiable. However, the author makes you care about a character, so when another isn't warm to them it can cause the reader to dislike the cold character. (Good hallmark of an author's ability to engage the reader, in my opinion.)

However, in this novella, I did actually grow to like & understand Vancia much more. It was nice to see that she really was a good person with a good heart like the two main characters in the Hidden trilogy insisted.

There's just one thing that bugged me about the Vancia in the Hidden trilogy and the Vancia in the novella. In the novella she has fond feelings toward a human & harbors no ill will toward humans and certainly doesn't look down upon them. She even says she sometimes forgets that SHE isn't human. However, when she interacts with Ryann in the Hidden trilogy, she certainly does mention Ryann's human heritage as if it's a stain and that doesn't sit well with me.

Other than that, I just really, REALLY wanted this novella to continue on until she saw Nox again in California when she & Lad barged in on Nox & Ryann. That scene would've have been AWESOME to see from Vancia's perspective & I was eagerly awaiting it the entire story only to see it stops just before King Ivar's assassination, months before she truly meets Nox face to face again.

Terrific Adjunct Story to the Hidden series.

This is a short-story that is an adjunct to her Hidden series. It amplifies the story through some of the peripheral characters and is very interesting in that regard.

Amy Patrick has written a fascinating series in The Hidden series. Her characters are fascinating and fantastic. The plot lines are rich and varied and constantly interesting. It is a most enjoyable read and this novella expands the development of plot and characters found in the Hidden series in a very satisfying way.

I really enjoyed this novella

Definitely make sure you have read the Hidden trilogy before you read this book in order to avoid spoilers. I really enjoyed this novella, insight into one of the side characters and seeing things from her perspective shed new light on the story. Also, since she had access to other information about the events, it provided some new revelations about a mysterious part of the plot. You won't want to skip this one if you read the other books (which you should, because they are also fantastic!)

Blake Hunter has never been able to take no for an answer. Predictable ending.

I received an advanced copy from the author for an honest review - this book moved Blake and Penny's story forward. Slight spoilers ahead - the first book in the series ended with Penny finding out some hurtful news and leaving Blake. The book picks up with him trying to reach out to her, and Penny refusing to contact him. They run into each other, and there are still sparks. Penny decides to exact revenge against Blake by using him. Only, she falls deeper in love, and never does anything drastic. Everything she used him for was stuff he would have already done, so I don't understand why he's so hurt, other than it's where the story had to go. There were parts of the the story that just don't jive with how the characters are described in other parts of the story. For instance, Blake is in control of everything - but he doesn't portray the confident powerful man at every turn. Penny is a senior in college studying coding - this makes her seem like she shold be a brainiac, but she doesn't come off as smart or confident. She was interviewing to be a perfume girl at a department store. It didn't appear that she tried millions of other tech places and this was a last resort, it just didn't feel like this part of the story was developed. But when Blake and Penny are together, its like they are different people then when they aren't with each other. the sex scenes have real spark, but there wasn't enough of them in this book. I'm curious how the next book will turn out, and hopefully give them their happy ever after. It's obvious they are better together, than apart.

Overall I enjoyed this book and thought it progressed the relationship nicely

Overall I enjoyed this book and thought it progressed the relationship nicely. I would have liked a little more steam but that's a personal preference. The writing was clearer than in the first book of the series which I greatly appreciated.

My biggest issue was that I didn't understand what the big deal was about her "using" him. All she did was get some towels and groceries, which wouldn't be out of the realm of reasonable behavior for any relationship. I also didn't understand the whole "becoming official" thing. Blake is a grown ass man. Would this really be happening? Maybe a talk about exclusivity, but not this huge drama and setup as though it were a proposal. I'm not sure what obstacle I would have preferred them to face, but I just kept groaning over the immaturity and complete lack of consequence of it all.

I generally like each character individually and enjoy that neither is a sad sack tortured soul. I'm looking forward to getting to their HEA in the next book.

Penelope and Blake's story continues with Seduced By You book two in the series. Penny is confused and hurt with the way Blake used her to protect himself. Blake desperately tries to reach out to Penny but she refuses to hear him out. Both decide to find someone to fill the void by finding someone on Blake's app. By chance or by fate, they end up at the same restaurant with their dates. As much as she wants him, Penny finds herself putting on a show for Blake to make him jealous. She finds herself drawn to him and follows him to the restrooms. Blake is waiting for her and offers her a proposition to dump her date and meet him at his apartment. The electricity that they have is still there and she can't fight the pull. Will they find their way back to each other, or are they doomed to fail again? Blake desperately wants her back and will do whatever it takes to achieve that. He knows that with her, he is a better man and likes the way he is when he's around her. When she shows up at his apartment, their reunion is sweet and solidifies his goal of keeping her around. Penny has other thoughts running through her head after their reunion and discussing it with her best-friend, Nicolette. Her friend suggests she do the same, and use Blake and let him feel the pain he caused her. Decisions, Decisions. What will Penny Do? Can she be that person? She desperately wants to be with Blake but she still needs him to understand the pain he caused her. What will happen when she drops the bomb that she exacted revenge on him, will he forgive her or will he drop her and run? Looking forward to book three in the series.
